This position is responsible for performing various duties associated with the Arkansas State Parks Geographic Information System (GIS), including feature development, data entry and analysis, web service implementation, and database maintenance. Provides GIS support for the Outdoor Recreation Grant Program by maintaining a grant database, interactive web maps, and mobile applications. Routinely locates and records park assets and resources using construction drawings, surveys, legal descriptions, field measurements, and various remote sensing methods. Applicant must have the ability to work independently or within a team environment. Working knowledge of GIS concepts, including experience with ArcGIS Desktop, Spatial Analyst, orthoimagery, and cartographic standards is required. Applicant should have experience working within an enterprise database environment using ArcGIS applications, Python, and Microsoft SQL. Applicant may be required to perform tasks in an outdoor environment, including GPS data collection, trail mapping, and other field work. Occasional in-state travel may be required. Applicants with education and/or experience in Geography, Recreation, Natural Resources, or related fields are preferred.

Applicants must meet or exceed these qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, information technology or a related field; plus three years of geographic information data collection and compilation experience.
